ActionAid is a non-governmental organization working with the poor and excluded, promoting values ​​and commitment in civil society , institutions and governments with the aim of achieving structural changes in order to eradicate injustices and poverty in the world. Registered with the Companies Commission business in Nigeria as a national organization , ActionAid Nigeria is also a subsidiary of ActionAid International with its international headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa.

ActionAid started its operations in Nigeria in 1999, while the programming operations began in January 2000 , thanks to an agreement signed with the countries of National Planning Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

ActionAid Nigeria as part of

efforts to achieve set targets established a communications office , which is responsible for the implementation of the communication strategy of the AAN , plan and carry out public business, community relations and advertising to influence and inform stakeholders , staff, partners and donors of the AAN in the thematic areas of the organization.

ActionAid Nigeria seeks the services of a communications consultant for a non-renewable fixed term of four months. The person is hired to perform duties listed in the job description below.

responsibilities

The following are the expectations of the communications consultant :

1 . Supervise the printing of publications being ActionAid , media advocacy and communication activities and campaigns other documents works
a . The consultant will respond to political , advocacy and campaigns manager of the award to have a better understanding of expectations AAN Contract
b . The Consultant will be responsible for drafting all materials provided. He / she will ensure the clarity of the structure and internal consistency , both analytical and stylistic . He / she will also ensure the overall readability and accessibility to a wide audience regardless of the level of literacy in English.
c . The consultant will provide relevant technical support to the Local Human Rights Program (LRP ), particularly in the literature, skills development , media relations and social media .
d. The consultant in consultation with the policy , advocacy and campaigns manager to identify competent resource persons with the necessary skills and qualifications to carry out the tasks in (b ) above and other tasks that may be identified.
2 . Supervise technical editing and review of reports and other publications for readability and consistency
a . The consultant will oversee the technical editing and revision of documents before they are printed say the appropriate use of boxes, graphs and tables ; sequencing , consistency , especially between the text and the tables and figures and integration of text and boxes , to ensure that the data used and referenced in the text are consistent with the data in the respective tables, figures, graphs and maps , as well as the tables and flow indicator clarity of argument, the errors in content, style and punctuation, spelling and grammar.
b . The Consultant will be responsible for the supply of skilled graphic designer to develop models for the AAN publication .
c . The Consultant will be responsible for reviewing or purchasing a competent proof reader (s) for all products after the layout / graphic works of the document ( s) must have been concluded .
d. The Consultant will be responsible for the graphic design of the final document and ensure it is consistent with the brand image ActionAid given by the team of international communication and as amended by the country program .
3 . Support the development of advocacy campaigns and materials
a . The consultant will provide appropriate support for the policy , defense and director of campaigns in the connections of unit programs and projects in the development of relevant policies, awareness campaigns and materials .
b . The Consultant shall review all campaigns and advocacy materials to articulate positions AAN , the appropriate use of language , compliance with AAI branding and the use of graphic words before going to press.
c . Are from time to time to review the need for intervention of relevant communication and implementation of the new strategy and make recommendations for such .
4 . Lead in web activities of the organization
a . The consultant will manage the website of the organization and make recommendations for changes if necessary .
b . The consultant will take the initiative on the use of ICT organization and social forums.
c . The consultant will support the e- newsletter of the organization.
5. Capture and projection successes.
a . The Consultant will work with programs and staffs projects to ensure regular capture successes and stories of change .
b . The consultant will support and provide appropriate guides LRP partners to capture stories of change .
c . The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the proper use of these stories of change and success in all available power outlet within and without ActionAid International.
d. The Consultant will be responsible for the syndication of these stories in the mass media.

qualifications
Education: Bachelors Degree desirable

Experience: At least five years of relevant experience as a communications specialist working in the development sector .
• Proven experience in editing and writing
• Experience in development work
• High competence in managing web
• a verifiable proactive on social networks ie Facebook , Twitter, personal blog, etc.
• Experience in the publication requirements
• Experience working with statistics and statistical indicators , and a familiarity with the logic and structure of tables and complex statistical concepts.
